Role and Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Program Director is the senior manager of the project’s community and ecosystem development activities, responsible for the overall operational, and financial guidance of the program. The Director works closely with key stakeholders at Hedera, DSF and the Hedera Foundation to ensure the Project’s goals and objectives are achieved, representing the project to stakeholders, partners, and the wider community.
The DLT Science Foundation (DSF) is looking for an Open Source Program Director who will have the following key responsibilities:
Leadership, Strategic and Operational Planning
- Develop through key stakeholder consensus and implement the foundation's strategic vision and long-term goals.
- Lead the foundation in promoting open-source principles and best practices in both the web3 and web2 communities.
- Foster a positive organizational culture that reflects the foundation's values of openness, collaboration, and transparency.
- Develop and ensure new and existing developer and ecosystem partnership goals are attained
Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the foundation, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure the foundation staff focuses on developing and maintaining a world-class user experience
- Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability.
- Implement and monitor policies, procedures, and systems to enhance operational performance.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the foundation, representing its mission and values to the public, media, and key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the web2 and web3 open-source community, industry partners, government agencies, and other relevant organizations.
- Organize and participate in events, conferences, and forums to promote the foundation's work and engage with the community.
Program Development and Management
- Oversee the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and strategic goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of programs, ensuring continuous improvement and effectiveness.
- Support the creation and dissemination of educational resources and materials to advance open-source knowledge and skills.
Governance and Board Relations
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance and strategic oversight.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the board on the foundation's activities, performance, and financial status.
- Support the board in recruiting and onboarding new members, facilitating effective board meetings, and implementing board decisions.
Skill requirements
The ideal applicant will be characterised by:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Computer Science, Non-Profit Management) or equivalent experience.
- 5 + years of contributing to a diverse and complex open-source project
- Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in a non-profit, open-source, or technology organization.
- Proven track record of successful employee development and diversity
- Experience in strategic planning, financial management, and operational oversight.
- 1+ years of blockchain and/or web3 experience
